Kids yoga is a fabulous way for families to de-stress, have fun, and partake in movement and breathing exercises together. The holidays are an especially fun time for families and what better way to celebrate than with a holiday yoga lesson.
In every lesson of “Bonding with My Bunnies: Yoga Lesson Plans for Families & Children” book the theme of each lesson is introduced with a share circle.
1. SHARE CIRCLE
(Invite everyone to take turns sharing — for everyone who wants to share): Ask the following: What would be your reindeer name? (You can make up your own or use one of the famous reindeer names which are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Commet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph. Note: It is okay if multiple children choose the same name.
2. BREATHING EXERCISE
Next, in every lesson is a breathing exercise to come the body and get everyone ready for the yoga practice.
For the Holiday Yoga Lesson for Kids, we do HO HO HO BREATHING.
This breathing exercise is super fun and simple. Simply instruct the kids to breathe in and then breathe out while saying HO-HO-HO
Here’s a demonstration: HO-HO-HO Breathing
